    • Early Life
      Harry or Henry1 Nisbet was born on the 11th of November 1794 in Futtehgurh, Farrukhabad in India, the second child and first son of Harry Nisbet, an administrator in the East India Company, and Anne Harriet Curtis-Hayward of Gloucestershire.

      Career
      Harry was a solicitor, most likely based in London.

      Family Life
      Harry married Louisa Margaret Kelso Bruce, only daughter of the Rev. Courtenay Boyle Brice2 and Margaret Augusta Kelso on the 20th of April 1858 at Chippenham in Wiltshire. They had eight children:
      1. Margaret Henrietta, born 1862; did not marry
      2. Harry Bruce, born 1864, married firstly in 1891 Amabel Trevilla Carey by whom he had two children, then secondly in 1919 Irene Gertrude Howard. Modern-day descendents include the Plumptre, Maltby, Cazalet and Thomson families.
      3. Agnes Lockhart, born 1866, who married Hugh McPherson Mitchell
      4. Francis Courtenay, born 1869 and who married Helen Agnes Macfarlane but had no children
      5. Catherine Emelia, born 1871 and who married in 1902 James Kiero Watson
      6. Hugh Adair, born 1873, who married Flora Short
      7. Alice Maud, born 1876, married in 1896 James Lachlan Evans. Modern-day descendents include the Courtenay Evans family.
      8. Walter Selwyn, born 1882, married Lucy Dent but probably had no children

      It seems that the Nisbet family name has entirely died out from this branch: Harry junior (b. 1864) had two sons surviving to adulthood; the first, Harry (b. 1890) had a son (Harry, natch, born 1917) who died unmarried in World War Two. The second, Robert (an olympic rower) married but didn't appear to have any children. Hugh Adair (b. 1873) had a son (also called Hugh Adair, b. 1915) who however died unmarried. Walter Selwyn, b. 1882, also married but also appeared not to have had children. So the entirety of Harry Curtis Nisbet's living descendents came from his daughters, or from his grand-daughters via his son Harry Bruce Nisbet (b. 1864).

      In December 1889, Harry got himself into (very minor) trouble with the law3:
      An Unmuzzled Dog. - Mr Harry Curtis Nisbet, of the Manor House, Sidcup Park, was summoned before the Bromley Magistrates on Monday, and fined 10s. and the costs 10s., for allowing a dog belonging to him to be at large without having a muzzle on.


      Death
      Harry died on the 18th of July 1807 at his home, the Old House, Wimbledon. His will was unremarkable, naming his wife Louisa as Executor, along with his son Harry Bruce and business partner Samuel John Daw. He gave £500 to Louisa, along with his wines and other consumable stores and provisions.

      [1] There is some equivocation on first name. His baptism certificate (British India Office of Births & Baptisms) has him down as Henry (in contrast to his father Harry). He's also referred to as Henry in the 1851 census, but by the time of his marriage in 1858 he is going by Harry.
      [2] Courtenay changed his surname from Brice to Bruce some time before 1852, probably around 1825 when his father Archibald obtained a Royal Grant, so his children (including Louisa) were christened with the surname 'Bruce'
