    • Looks like the marriage was witnessed by Walter Paterson who may have been Ann's father. Another witness was "V Haleth"?

If Walter Paterson was indeed Ann's father, than that would explain her naming her son Walter (Rankin).

  • Notes
    • Early Life
William Fountain was one of two sons of Benjamin John Johnson and Ann Paterson. Note that his birth date is often given as 2nd Dec 1782, but it must be 2ndnd Jan 1782.

      Career & Family Life
William lived in London, listed as being in Connaught Square in various places. He married Isabella Hawthorn in 1827 but it seems that they had no children (none are mentioned in his will, nor are there any baptismal records).

      Death
William died on the 14th of March 1853 and was buried on the 21st at All Souls cemetary in Kensal Green. His will makes no mention of any children (after his wife, the only others mentioned in his will are his nephew Walter and niece Isabella Ann).
