    • Early Life
      We have the baptism of a Susana Beaumont (to Francis and Rebecca) in Herefordshire on the 22nd of October 1780: could this be the right person? A separate entry (this time from England Births and Christenings, rather than a Bishop's Transcript) suggests that the actual location was in Rushbury in Shropshire. We note that Susannah married Joseph Stephens at Onibury in Shropshire, about 15 miles to the SW of Rushbury.

      The Herefordshire/Shropshire border has changed (indeed, Wikipedia suggests that some land in the NW of Herefordshire was ceded to Shropshire in 1750). So the location of Herefordshire in the Bishop's Transcript could be consistent with the location in the other record.

      One discrepancy is that Susannah's year of birth would have to be 1780, rather than the 1785 used by Winters Online. On the other hand, her husband Joseph was born in 1778, so nothing wrong with a 1780 birth. She would have been 26 when she married Joseph in 1806.
