    • Early Life
      Elizabeth Gipps was born in 1758 and baptised on the 8th of October that year at Saltwood in Kent. Her parents were Henry Gipps, an apothecary in Saltwood, Kent and Ann Andrews.

      Death
      My best guess is that Elizabeth died in 1837 in Marylebone; the date is reasonable and the location makes sense. However, it is still somewhat tentative.

      Gipps Surname
      Possibly a shortened form of Gilbert, and related to the surnames Gibson and Gipson. There is some speculation that the town of Ipswich (first recorded as Gippeswic) may share some naming connection with the family - possibly Ipswich itself was named after a famous Gilbert. Or the Gipps family were named after Gippeswic since that is where they came from.
