    • Early Life
      Could be the son of Robert Ashfield mentioned here though the Edmund on that page is described as having married ___ Harvey.

      Alternatively, could be Sir Edmund Ashfield who married first Eleanor Barton and second Ann Wingfield though that second marriage seems doubtful as I can't find trace of it anywhere else except in unreliable Ancestry trees.

      So for the time being, we mark Edmund as a Brick Wall, noting only that he was probably born in the early 1500s, to fit in with the ages of his descendents on the Hart line.

      Edmund "of Suffolk" is mentioned as the father of Bridget Ashfield in William Berry's 'County Genealogies'1 where he is shown as having married Ann, daughter and heiress of Walter Wingfield.
