    • Early Life
      John Lonsdale was born c. October 1701, and baptised on the 19th of that month at Masham in Yorkshire North Riding. He was the son of John Lonsdale and Margaret Beckwith.

      Career
      John is described as 'gentleman' in The History of Masham1.

      Family Life
      John married Mary Beckwith, the daughter of William Beckwith of Lambhill, just outside Masham. They had:
      1. John, bapt. 1738, later vicar of Darfield in Yorkshire West Riding, who married Elizabeth Steer
      2. Mary, who died 22 June 1740, just a year after her mother
      3. (Possibly)Elizabeth, bapt. 1700 and buried 4 Feb 1716 in Masham


      Death
      John died aged 82 in April 1784 and was buried at St Mary in Masham on the 1th of May that year.
