    • Early Life
      Margaret Thornton was the daughter of the Rev. Robert Thornton, Rector of Birkin in Yorkshire North Riding, and his wife Clare/Clara ____1,2. She would have been born c. 1654 (Foster1). There is a baptismal record at Coxwold in Yorkshire for a Margaret Thornton, daughter of Robert, born 14 Oct 1654. A few Ancestry trees have picked this as the right record, though Coxwold is a long way from Birkin which is where her father was Rector. On the other hand, her father was definitely born at Coxwold too, so perhaps this is where the family lived, even though Robert was rector elsewhere.

      Margaret married the Rev. Robert Banks on the 10th of June 1678 at Darrington in Wakefield.

      Death
      Margaret died on the 12th of June 1697, aged just 43.
