Early Life
Must have been born in 1681 or earlier to have been of age in 1699 when she married.
Ancestry trees have Anne as the daughter of William Whitcott, born in 1680 in Norbury, Shropshire. Norbury is about 20 miles to the north of Lingen in Herefordshire, where she married, so I'm a bit suspicious that this is the right person. Also, there is a marriage record for Anne Whitcott of Norbury, to John Walters in Norbury, in February 1698. Unless this latter died a rapid and untimely death, or she was committing adultery, she can't have been the same person to marry Josiah Meredith a year later in Lingen.
Family Life
Anne married Josiah Meredith of Lingen, Herefordshire on the 21
st of December 1699. They had at least 5 known children, but probably many more (as there is a huge gap between Thomas and Margaret):
- Mary, born 1700
- David, born 1702 and who married Sarah Owens
- John, born 1704
- Thomas, born 1706
- Margaret, born 1719
FamilySearch has records for further children of Josiah Meredith and Anne going as late as 1732...this is such a gigantic span of time I'm not entirely certain that it can be the same couple, though it's not completely impossible. For the time being I'm stopping at Margaret, but there are two Annes and a Josiah that could be added using this information.
