      James Micklethwaite was born c. 1754 (based on his age at death, see below). His parents were Daniel Micklethwaite and Ann Jackson.

      Family Life
      James married Betty Oxley on the 3rd of April 1783, at Mirfield in West Yorkshire. They had at least three daughters:
      1. Ann, born 1794 and who died in 1828 aged 34
      2. Elizabeth, born 1789 and who died in 1867 aged 78
      3. Harriet born in 1799 and who married William Marriott; she died in 1882 aged 83


      Death
      A memorial inscription at St Mary's church in Mirfield1 reads:
      In memory of ELIZABETH wife of JAMES MICKLETHWAITE of Hopton Hall who departed this life May 24th 1822 aged 58 years.
      Also the above JAMES MICKLETHWAITE who departed this life on the 24th day of September 1824 aged 71 years.
      Also of ANN daughter of the above who departed this life March 24th 1828 aged 34 years.
      Also of ELIZABETH daughter of the above who departed this life Nov 14th 1867 aged 78 years.
