Who was Alice?
Alice would have been born around 1585-1590 in order to have been of age when she married in 1613.
A certain
Giles Hemsworth married Margaret Bywater at
Kippax in Yorkshire on the 8th of June 1585. Kippax isn't far from Birkin, where Alice Hymsworth's husband Robert was the rector.
Alternatively, looking at Ancestry trees, a few have made Alice the daughter of
Thomas Hemsworth of Kippax, and Frances Lound. One wonders if that relates to
this record for an Ales Hemsworth, baptised 5 May 1584 at Kippax. A search for siblings born around the same time gives George (

Perhaps Thomas (who married Frances) was the brother of Giles (who married Margaret).
Moving onto Alice herself, she married Robert Thornton, at
Arksey, in 1613: at that time Robert would have been somewhere between his position as rector of
Birkin (starting in 1612) and Rector of
Garforth (starting 1615). Garforth is just a few miles from Kippax, which links nicely to Alice Hymsworth having been born there. And Arksey is close to Birkin. So all these locations make sense, with perhaps the main question being why they married in Arksey at all, given that Alice would have been from Kippax and Robert was either based in Garforth or Birkin, both of which are close to Kippax.
